The Somerset Chapter is excited to announce that we are participating in the Kentucky Humanities program Our American Story: Kentucky’s Voices and will be hosting two speakers this summer. Our theme is Remembering Together. Both programs are free and open to the public! Our first speaker is from the Kentucky Humanities Speakers Bureau. Geoff Baggett, a Kentucky Writer & Revolutionary War Historian from Cadiz, Kentucky, will present Revolutionary War in a Trunk. The program will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 10 a.m. at the Pulaski County Public Library. Description: This hands-on, interactive program is fun for all ages! Baggett brings to his listeners an old wooden trunk full of interesting items and military equipment from the Revolutionary War period. His presentation utilizes reproductions of 18th century weaponry, camp tools and equipment, clothing, toys, personal hygiene items, and other everyday necessities. This trunk full of Colonial “treasures” helps bring to life the reality of living on the Virginia and Kentucky frontier in the 1770s. Find out more information here.
